Unavoidable Blank
Space and distance are never whole, never finite; they flow endlessly, each bound to the next, and to the next.
— Marcel Breuer
What we take for stillness in emptiness is, in truth, layered with meanings: abundance, serenity, loss, purity, solitude, and more.
The forsaken interval becomes an active agent, weaving meaningful ties among the elements of the image. Distance works like an unseen adhesive, shaping a hierarchy between presence and absence. It bestows resonance upon the filled space, and echoing Herbert Read it comes alive only when the artist, with a rare mind and a singular sensitivity, unveils something both new and essential to the beholder.
Here, void, distance, whiteness, and emptiness converge as equals in the act of perception.
Raymond Loewy once remarked: “The hardest things to design are the simplest.”
The series “Inevitable White” calls upon the attentive viewer to engage with the works, to close the gaps, and to co-create meaning. It insists on the inevitability of distance, for within these works, absence emerges as the only possible language through which presence may be expressed.
