The hundred year old building, from either the early Pahlavi period or the late Qajar period in the old Qolhak area, has undergone a meticulous restoration and revitalization process, seamlessly blending modern and traditional architectural elements following a fire incident. Throughout this endeavor, there has been a concerted effort to harmoniously integrate historical and contemporary features into the new design, all while preserving the building’s original essence.
The architect’s vision is to craft an inviting space that strikes the perfect balance between a gallery aesthetic and modern spatial design, enhancing functionality and fostering an ambiance of ideal proportions through the strategic use of both indirect and direct lighting. Furthermore, the deliberate decision to leave certain areas exposed serves to showcase the building’s structural integrity and its storied past. Notably, this two-story structure boasts a Wake Roof Garden and currently operates as a cultural hub known as Eah Gallery.
The preservation of the original bricks and the reinforcement of the building’s core without compromising its historical integrity or unique texture are paramount. Additionally, the repurposing of the space aims to attract a younger demographic, promoting engagement with artistic endeavors and contributing to the broader revitalization efforts aimed at historical buildings.
